Between Control and Surrender

I believe that the essence of creation exists beyond duality.

My paintings explore the space between intention and surrender, between presence and absence, and the moment when these

counterforces reach harmony.

To paint with watercolour is to listen deeply to a dialogue with nature.

The brush expresses my intention. However, the movement of water and pigment cannot be completely controlled. Colours spread,

merge, and transform on the paper, creating expressions that go beyond my own expectations.

Each painting emerges from a collaboration between myself and nature.

50% is my own creativity.

50% is what nature brings.

I do not simply create a painting. Through this dialogue with nature, I discover something that already exists beyond myself.

The brushstroke represents the beauty of addition.

It is the act of bringing colour, form, and energy onto the paper.

The empty space, on the other hand, represents the beauty of subtraction.

It is silence. It is the space where possibilities remain.

Yet these two elements are not opposites.

The brushstroke exists because of the empty space, and the empty space gains meaning through the presence of the brushstroke.

Presence and absence.

What is painted and what is left untouched.

I seek the moment when addition and subtraction reach perfect balance.

At that moment, the painting seems to disappear, even though it remains physically present.

It is like two opposing sound waves cancelling each other, while the sound itself continues to exist.

The painting does not truly vanish.

Instead, it transcends its physical existence and continues to live within the memory, imagination, and inner world of the viewer.

For me, painting is an act of listening.

It is an acceptance of what cannot be predicted.

And it is the discovery of something that has always existed beyond myself, waiting to be revealed.
